How to Be A Positive Speaker

If you are like most people you will do your best to avoid
speaking in public but have you ever really thought about
what makes you so reluctant?

Well again if you are like just about everyone else it is
because of the things that you think you lack.

#1 Lack of Self Confidence

The fact is that most people have insecurities, not just about
speaking but in all areas of life.

It's just that in everyday life it is easy to survive without
exposing or addressing those insecurities. But when you are
suddenly required to get up in front of people and talk, your
insecurity is staring you in the face.

You feel that your lack of confidence is there for all to see.

#2 Lack of Experience

Because you have not spoken in public you have no real
perception of how well you will be received.

In most areas of your life you get to know through experience
how to deal with situations so that you can control how you
are perceived.

But get up to speak and you have no measure of how you will do.

You will have been taught many things in life and perhaps been
on training courses to improve the skills you need for your
job.

But have you ever been trained to speak publicly?

Probably not!

#3 Lack of Positive Belief

When you are first asked to speak what is your reaction?

Most people will automatically switch to negative mode.

They will come up with all the reasons why they will fail
as a speaker. They will have all sorts of negative thoughts
about what the audience will think of them and what can go
wrong. What if they forget their words, what if their talk
is boring,etc, etc.

They won't for a moment think about what they have to do to
be a success.

And this last point is the thing that links all three of
these areas. The focus is on what you lack rather than the
positive aspects that you have to offer.

So the answer is instead to always be positive.

You are being asked to speak because you have the knowledge
or information that people want to hear about.

You are the one that is up there speaking because you are
braver and more confident than most of the audience.

You are unique and have special qualities that mean you are
entitled to be talking to them.

You have a subject that you know about. You have planned and
rehearsed your talk. You have something that your audience
wants and you are delivering it to them.

You are a confident public speaker because you have taken
the time to study how to be just that.

And it's exactly the same in all the challenges that you have
to tackle in order to become the person you want to be.

Believe in yourself and abandon those negative thoughts and
then you will have all the self-confidence, experience and
positive belief that you need.

Managing Your Fears, Anxieties, And Phobias Takes Practice
Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Stanley Popovich

Like everything in life, managing your fears and anxieties
takes practice. The more you do it, the better you will become.
Here are a few reminders on how you can become better at
dealing with your fears, depression, and anxieties.

In every anxiety-related situation you experience, begin to
learn what works, what doesn't work, and what you need to
improve on in managing your fears and anxieties. For instance,
you have a lot of anxiety and you decide to take a walk to help
you feel better. The next time you feel anxious you can remind
yourself that you got through it the last time by taking a walk.
This will give you the confidence to manage your anxiety the
next time around.

Challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and
realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make you
fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself
questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. For
example, you are afraid that if you do not get that job
promotion then you will be stuck at your job forever. This
depresses you, however your thinking in this situation is
unrealistic. The fact of the matter is that there all are kinds
of jobs available and just because you don't get this job
promotion doesn't mean that you will never get one. In addition,
people change jobs all the time, and you always have that
option of going elsewhere if you are unhappy at your present
location. Changing your thinking can help you manage your fears.

Sometimes, we may be nervous doing a certain task that may be
scary. When this happens, visualize yourself doing the task in
your mind. For instance, you and your team have to play in the
championship hockey game in front of a large group of people
in the next few days. Before the big day comes, imagine
yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that your
playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game in
your mind, you will be better prepared to perform for real when
the time comes.Self-Visualization is a great way to reduce the
fear and stress of a coming situation.

When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you
with a lot of anxiety, divide the task into a series of
smaller steps and then complete each of the smaller tasks one
at a time. Completing these smaller tasks will make the stress
more manageable and increases your chances of success.

Take advantage of the help that is available around you. If
possible, talk to a professional who can help you manage your
fears and anxieties. They will be able to provide you with
additional advice and insights on how to deal with your
current problem. By talking to a professional, a person will
be helping themselves in the long run because they will
become better able to deal with their problems in the future.
Managing your fears and anxieties takes practice. The more
you practice, the better you will become.

Remember that sometimes our worrying and fears can make the
problem even worse. Take things in stride and try not focus
too much on the problem. Patience, persistence, education,
and being committed in trying to solve your problem will go
a long way in fixing your problems. In time, you will find
the ways to overcome your phobias.

5 Steps Towards Producing Meaningful Goals

I know it's not the first time I've written about it, and it
won't be the last, but to ensure you become the person you
want to be you must set goals.

Simple, yeh?

Well no, not really because to succeed your goals must be
meaningful. It's a topic I shall to continue to cover but
don't forget you can get help in the form of "Achieve-IT!
Goal Software". You can find out more about it now at:

http://thimarket5.goalset05.hop.clickbank.net/

But to help you along here are five essential steps:

#1 All goals must be written - so write them down and be
sure to keep them where you can see them and read them
every day.

#2 All goals be must believable - You must believe that it
is at least possible for you to achieve your goals and
that belief must extend to not being put off by the
inevitable doubters and negative thinkers who will try
to thwart you.It doesn't mean your goals have to be easy,
but self-belief is essential.

#3 Set Challenging Goals...and Easy Ones - The easy ones
will help you to build good habits of actually taking
action and achieving quickly. The challenging goals will
force you to develop your skills and knowledge and so
help you to grow as a person. So mix 'em up!

#4 All goals must be measurable - You will only succeed if
you have real and specific methods for measuring your
goals. It's no good just saying "I want to lose weight"
but instead say something like " I will reduce my weight
by "x" ilbs/kilos each week until I am lighter by
"y" lbs/kilos". Then you should set down how you are
going to do so. And then you will need a new goal about
how you will stay at that desired weight!

#5 Define Your Reward - It is no good having goals if you
don't know what your ultimate reward will be. Your reason
should be based around how you will feel as a result of
achieving your goal.

So if you haven't already set your meaningful goals now's the
time to do it. And you can make the task easier by using the
"Achieve-IT! Goal Software".
